Yesterday we got unexpected FREE tickets to the Canucks game!!! It truly made my day! We were 10 rows up from the Calgary bench - great seats. And the Canucks managed to give us a great game and won 3-1. YEAH! The only catch was that we had never left Elijah before, nor had given him a bottle or formula. So, I had to quickly get home from errands sterilize bottles and breast pump paraphernalia, pump for the first time, give him a trial bottle with formula for the first time and line up grandma to babysit for the first time - lots of firsts I know! Thankfully he took the bottle of formula from me well, so I felt fairly confident that he would do okay without me. Apparently, he performed like a star (according to grandma) and he took the breast milk in a bottle from her no problem and went to bed later all without a hitch. What a good boy!! When I got home I was VERY full, so I took him out of bed to nurse him more for my sake than his and tucked him back in to bed and didn't hear from him until 8am the next morning! I thought he may get up in the night due to all his firsts, but no, he was just fine.
Then today Elijah and I went over to my mum's to do some yummy Christmas baking. Of course, we did not get as many treats accomplished as planned (funny how that happens with an infant!), but we still managed to do double batches of almond rocca, lemon squares and butter tarts. We actually burned the second batch of almond rocca, so we had to share the first. But we can try again another day. We still have to make shortbread and chocolate toffee squares - hopefully early next week.
Check out my mum's blog to see an adorable pic of Elijah in the bath and the reason why! It just may have to do with his first experience with formula... By the way, how long is formula good in the fridge?

Wow - that's incredible! i'm jealous, i must say!! way to go, elijah!
and way to go for all the baking you did! i did some baking a couple weeks ago, but nothing really "christmas-y" but I'd like to. maybe next week.
as for formula...basically formula and breastmilk are good for 3 days in the fridge (not in the door of the fridge though) and about 2 weeks in a fridge freezer and 3 months in a deep freezer.
Now you have made me a bit jealous with your Canucks experience. What fun! So glad you could go. I am sure your mom loved being a last minute babysitter. Way to go Elijah on being so adaptable for your parents!
okay...i just went over and looked at elijajs first bath and i laughed out loud. priceless.
Hi Sarah:
I'm still waiting for a few pictures of your other babies - Bernese Mtn dogs. Also, you should check out my blog, I've updated some things. This blogging is quite entertaining, at least for the blogger. I'm not so sure the people reading it will be fascinated but it is oddly addictive. Sort of like your home grown reality shows. I'll have to "invent" some drama to add some spice and interest.....
right on! always nice to get last minute tickets as a treat! glad to hear your little guy did well with grandma... what a star! :)
