Two of our dogs, Fabio and Flavie (a brother/sister duo), entered their first dog show this weekend. We've hired a handler who shows them and helps us train them. They both did very well for their first showing. Flavie was made for showing - she LOVES it! Fabio, on the other hand, is a little more reserved in new situations and needs a little more coaxing before he's comfortable. Although they are both gorgeous dogs, Fabio has really "strong bone" and "floats when he moves" so he will be easier to champion, which is the goal for both of them. This is a new world for us. I don't really understand the point system that's used to grade them yet and I can't always "see" what makes one better than the other, but I plan on learning! All I know right now is that the dog is judged against "the standard of the breed." Incidentally, this is interpreted differently by different judges, so it is definitely a subjective rating. It takes 10 points to champion a dog and this weekend Flavie got one point, while Fabio earned 4!! Way to go puppies!
This is Fabio. Our puppies are from the same litter and are 9 months old. We imported them from Champion bloodlines in Belgium. They are wonderful dogs!
Flavie (that's the judge touching her, deciding if she likes what she sees/feels...)
In other news...
I had coffee with a good friend on Saturday morning. She is expecting her first child in July. She is 6 months along already and is TINY! I took these pics especially for you Drea! Enjoy!
Elijah and I took advantage of the glorious sunshine on Saturday too. Ah, fresh air for mummy and baby, such a good thing and so enjoyable after so much rain lately.
